    Political Republican Opinion:

Political Republican Opinion - It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings The time has come to get out and vote. I have done all that I can to inform readers of the facts that have not been reported in the mainstream Liberal media. For the most part, I have been preaching to the choir.

Now is not the time to stifle your voice; it is not the time to lie down and let the United States of America become transformed into a Socialist welfare state. Although it may not seem like it, your lone vote counts. Your single voice when joined by millions of other voices makes the Republican Party the most powerful choir in the world.

We can prevent a new director from taking the baton and snapping it in half. This man does not want to hear you sing; he doesn’t like our songs. He prefers “La Marsseillace” and “Das Deutschlandlied.” We can keep Barack Obama from stifling our voices, but we need to let them be heard now, more than ever before.

John McCain wound up his nomination speech at the Republican National Convention with the following words:

“I’m going to fight for my cause every day as your president. I’m going to fight to make sure every American has every reason to thank God, as I thank Him: that I’m am American, a proud citizen of the greatest country on earth, and with hard work, strong faith and a little courage, great things are always within our reach.

Fight with me. Fight with me.

Fight for what’s right for our country.

Fight for the ideals and character of a free people.

    Fight for our children’s future.

Fight for justice and opportunity for all.

Stand up to defend our country from its enemies.

Stand up for each other; for beautiful, blessed, bountiful America.

Stand up, stand up, stand up and fight. Nothing is inevitable here. We’re Americans, and we never give up. We never quit. We never hide from history. We make history.”

Barack and Michelle Obama, on the other hand, have denigrated the United States of America and have expressed the shame they feel for this country on numerous occasions. From Rezko to Wright to Khalidi, from Ayers to Farrakhan to ACORN, the people they have chosen to associate with for the past twenty years shows a very clear picture of who they really are. They do not like this country. They sing a different song. As the Reverend Wright has said, “it’s not ‘God Bless America’ … no, no, no … it’s ‘GOD DAMN AMERICA.’”

John McCain has fought for this country; he loves this country and sings its praises every day. It is time to join McCain and let his song be heard. We can fix the broken things in this country. We can right the few wrongs. The fundamentals of the United States of America are strong and have made it the greatest country in the world since its beginning.

That strength starts with you. The mainstream Liberal media has tried to convince you to stay home, that the race is already lost. They have told you that the Republicans will lose all of their vacating seats to Democrats and that a super majority is going to happen in the US Congress. They have told you that Barack Obama has already won.

Don’t let the biased media fool you! The fat lady is sleeping off her last big meal. It’s time to let your voice be heard. It’s time to vote, not just for John McCain, but for every single Republican on the ballot. We have the numbers. We can claim this country back!

    Political Republican Opinion:

It’s Sunday - my lazy posting day. As usual, I have more chores than can be done before the football games begin (I do have my priorities!) and I even have a customer who I promised I would go see this morning (he’s only available on Sundays). Nonetheless, I have collected a few snippets this week that are pertinent to this year’s presidential election and that I have saved for today:

McCain Rapidly Gaining Ground On Obama

On Saturday, Reuters posted the results of the Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll that indicated that Barack Obama’s national lead had slipped from 12 points on Thursday, to 10 points on Friday and just 9 points that day.

Today, the Obama lead slid another whopping 4 points to just a 5 point lead over John McCain in the Sunday Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll.

The reason for the abrupt gains by John McCain is - get this - the economy! Now that McCain has finally shifted his focus from negative attack ads to the thing that is foremost on the minds of Americans, voters are beginning to question whether Obama’s plan will put the country in a far worse position than it currently is in and are beginning to believe that John McCain has the better plan.

Despite the mainstream Liberal media’s attempts to discourage Republicans from wasting their time at the voting booth, common sense is finally beginning to sink in. The poll manipulations are not working anymore and Republicans need to vote now more than ever before!

Democrat Supporter – “Joe Biden is a Liar and a Cheat!

Normally, I take these kinds of things with a grain of salt. When someone posts an E-Mail message purporting to be from a credible source, how can one be sure? I guess it depends on who the source is and whether there is any supporting evidence or a way to follow up with the source.

There may be something fishy here and I’m still not completely sure; but, an E-Mail posted on the “Political View” seems to pass the “stink test.”

The message is purportedly from a member of the Board of Directors of a private jet company who claims that Joe Biden stiffed his company for $15,000. I am inclined to believe that this is a credible story because he provides all of his contact information. Not only does Bruce D. Riddle provide his name, title and company that he works for, but he lists his business phone number, cell phone number and fax number. I hope he likes to correspond with people a lot!

One thing is bothering me about it, however. It seems to be impossible to post a comment on the blog. There is a brief video following the E-Mail that contains a collection of Obama and Biden gaffes as well as a montage of pictures of Obama and some of his more dubious associates. At the bottom, there is a Digg bookmark and a “posted by” link pointing to someone who goes by the pseudonym of “Timely.”

“Timely,” it turns out, is Tim Ley, whose claim to fame is that he and his family witnessed a “huge UFO” passing over their home. The bio also states that Tim was at Woodstock in 1969. Whoa dude, talk about a serious flashback!

I did not bother calling Bruce Riddle and I’m sure there are plenty of you out there who would be more than happy to. If it is all a bogus story made up by someone who had one too many hits of the happy hay, so be it. At least there was a fun video to watch!

    Obama Mocks Christians!

There’s not much to say about this that the video doesn’t say itself. I could rant and rave about how Obama is not a real Christian and about how his views of Christianity have been skewed by the teachings of Reverend Wright or by his mother, the atheist.

Why believe me, though? I’ll just let Barack Obama speak for himself:

As always, all comments are welcome on any of the above topics!

Political Republican Opinion Quote of the Day: “When at some future date, the high court of history sits in judgment on each one of us - recording whether in our brief span of service we fulfilled our responsibilities to the state - our success or failure, in whatever office we may hold, will be measured by the answers to four questions: Were we truly men of courage? … Were we truly men of judgment? … Were we truly men of integrity? … Were we truly men of dedication?” – John F. Kennedy

    Political Republican Opinion:

Political Republican Opinion - Barack Obama refusing to pledge allegiance to the flag The city of Chicago has already started preparations for the Obama victory celebration in downtown Chicago’s Grant Park. The cost of the event – a cool $2 million. If Barack Obama wins, it will be quite a party; if he doesn’t, it may very well be the world’s largest riot!

The Obama campaign will be footing the bill, drawing out the massive sum from contributions made for his election since the city, according to Mayor Richard Daley, cannot “in this financial crisis … afford $2 million on this.” The city of Chicago still will be in charge of spending the money that donors had earmarked for the Obama campaign, however.

Daley said that he would have preferred the event to be held indoors at the United Center, where the celebration tab would be cheaper, but will bow to Barack Obama’s wishes.

“Could you see me saying no to Sen. Obama?” Daley told reporters yesterday. “Give me a break; I’m not that dumb!”

People who live in Chicago and know the “connections” that mayor daily (allegedly) has, should find this statement particularly disturbing. If he’s scared of saying “no” to Barack Obama, I cannot imagine what a lesser-connected person should be feeling! Apparently, denying Obama would be worse than refusing Tony Soprano!

The Obama campaign said that it could not have used the United Center if it wanted to; a concert by Celine Dion is scheduled for that night in the venue. Ironically, Dion’s song, “You and I,” was the theme song of the Hillary Clinton campaign.

Both John McCain and Sarah Palin say they are comfortable in the underdog role but they warn that the election is not over.

“My opponent’s looking pretty confident … these days,” McCain said. “He’ll be addressing the nation soon. He’s got another of those big stadium spectacles in the works. But acting like the election is over; it won’t let him take away your chance to have the final say in this election.”

Speaking at a Virginia Beach rally on October 13th, McCain continued, “The national media has written us off. Senator Obama is measuring the drapes, and planning with Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid to raise taxes, increase spending, take away your right to vote by secret ballot in labor elections, and concede defeat in Iraq. But they forgot to let you decide. My friends, we’ve got them just where we want them.”

McCain then went on to compare Barack Obama to President Herbert Hoover, an “intellectual,” who believed in government intervention and that there was a technical solution for every social and economic problem.

    A Brief History Lesson:

Herbert Hoover believed that he could improve the conditions for all Americans by increased regulation and by encouraging volunteerism. Hoover expanded the size of the federal government by encouraging civil servants in federal positions, cancelled private oil leases on government lands, advocated tax reductions for low-income Americans and closed tax loopholes for the wealthy (Hmmm … Does this sound familiar?).

He proposed federal loans for urban slum clearances, proposed a Federal Department of Education and chaired a White House conference on home ownership (Does this sound even more familiar? If not, check out this Stanley Kurtz article!).

President Hoover went on a seven-week “goodwill” tour of Latin America (like the Obama World Tour, perhaps?), where an assassination attempt by Argentine anarchists was made on his life. He looked the other way, however, and praised the country for its hospitality. He also withdrew US troops from Nicaragua and Haiti, proposed an arms embargo on Latin America and advocated a one-third reduction of the world’s naval power. (Substitute “nuclear arms” for “naval power” and this should sound really, really familiar! Obama believes we can totally eliminate all nuclear weapons!)

Oh, yeah … Herbert Hoover was also the President during the Great Depression. After the stock market crashed on October 29, 1929, President Hoover tried various things to turn the economy around. He restricted free trade by imposing tariffs on imported goods in a move to help alleviate the massive federal budget deficit. This resulted in a world-wide Depression. Foreign nations retaliated, imposing their own high tariffs on American goods which only worsened the situation in the United States. (Doesn’t Obama want to “renegotiate” the free trade agreement?)

Hoover then formed a consortium of the nation’s largest banks, calling it the National Credit Corporation, in an attempt to make money available to smaller banks. This, too, failed and more than 5,000 banks went under.

In a final attempt to unburden the federal government from the massive budget deficit it had incurred from increased social program spending, the Congress passed and President Hoover signed into law, the Revenue act of 1932. This Act increased taxes progressively on individuals as their incomes went up and implemented higher corporate taxes. This resulted in the highest unemployment rate in the history of the United States; nearly 25% of the country became unemployed. (I thought that taking money away from “the rich people” and increasing corporate taxes was supposed to be a good thing! The United States already has the second highest corporate tax rate in the world, which has led to companies moving operations - and jobs - overseas and reductions in foreign investment in US companies.)

It is important to note that Herbert Hoover was a “Republican” and that he became President during one of the most robust periods of economic growth in this country’s history. It just goes to show that policies, not Party affiliations, are what can bring a nation and the world to its knees!

Let’s see now … where was I? Oh, yes; I remember! … McCain was comparing Barack Obama to President Hoover …

“They say those who don’t learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them. Well, my friends, I know my history lessons, and I sure won’t make the mistakes Senator Obama will,” McCain said.

John McCain then took a shot at the Democratic presidential candidate’s huge spending proposals, saying that they cannot possibly be funded without raisng taxes and by further increasing the national debt.

“Raising taxes makes a bad economy much worse. Keeping taxes low creates jobs, keeps money in your hands and strengthens our economy. What America needs in this hour is a fighter; someone who puts all his cards on the table and trusts the judgment of the American people,” McCain said. “I come from a long line of McCains who believed that to love America, is to fight for her.”

“If I’m elected President,” McCain continued, “I will fight to take America in a new direction from my first day in office until my last. I’m not afraid of the fight, I’m ready for it.”

McCain then reiterated his pledge to freeze federal spending, renegotiate distressed mortgages to help middle class homeowners, and cut taxes.

Yes, the larger-than-before Greek Columns are already being erected in Grant Park, the champagne is already on ice and Michelle Obama has most certainly already decided upon another lobster and caviar victory meal. What a bacchanal it will be!

But wait! What was it that the esteemed Reverend Jeremiah Wright said? Something like, “Don’t count your chickens, before they come home to roost,” I think.

    Political Republican Opinion:

Political Republican Opinion - Gender Inequity Today, I will do something unprecedented on The Political Republican Opinion Blog; I will post a Barack Obama-approved ad that is negative about John McCain. Specifically, Obama attacks McCain on his position regarding equal pay for women.

Obama’s attacks didn’t just stop at John McCain, however. On August 31, in Toledo, Ohio, Barack Obama said of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s Republican vice-presidential nomination, “[Palin] seems like a very engaging person, but I’ve got to say, she’s opposed - like John McCain is - to equal pay for equal work. That doesn’t make much sense to me.”

    Here’s the attack ad:

Wow, quite a damning statement piece. Barack Obama clearly is a stronger supporter of women’s equal pay rights than John McCain is, right? Well … not so fast!

Once again, we need to look at the two candidates’ deeds versus their words. There is no better way that I can think of, than to look at each man’s own Senate office staff.

Barack Obama: According to publicly available data on Legistorm.com, Barack Obama’s Senate office employs 60 people, half men and half women.

    • The average annual salary for male employees in Barack Obama’s Senate office was $54,379.16. Female employees earned an average salary of $45,152.57. That means men in Obama’s office earn an average of $9,226.49 more per year than women or, to put it another way, women are only worth 83 cents on the dollar compared to men.
    • Only one of the five highest paid employees in the Obama Senate office is a woman.

    • Only 7 of the top 20 staff salaries in Barack Obama’s office are earned by women.

John McCain: According to publicly available data on Legistorm.com, John McCain’s Senate office employs 54 people, half men and half women.

    • The average annual salary for male employees in John McCain’s Senate office was $53,936.15. Female employees earned an average salary of $55,878.36. That means that men in McCain’s office earn an average of $1,942.21 less than women or, to put it differently, women make an average of $1.04 for every dollar that men make.
    • Three of the top five highest paid employees in the McCain Senate office are women.
    • 13 of the top 20 staff salaries in John McCain’s office are earned by women.

In an Op-Ed piece in the Seattle Post-Intelligence, Deroy Murdock wrote, “In short, these statistics suggest that John McCain is more than fair with his female employees, while Barack Obama - at the expense of the women who work for him - quietly perpetuates the very same pay-equity divide that he loudly denounces. Of all people, the Democratic standard bearer should understand that equal pay begins at home.”

As has been the case repeatedly in the campaign of Barack Obama, his words are empty and his promises are suspect. His words just don’t match his actions.

    Political Republican Opinion:

I’m working on a post right now that is taking far longer to write than I anticipated. It’s the product of a little too much research and a little too much creativity, I guess.

Because I have promised myself that I will make every effort to post something every day, I will have to resort to a tactic that I normally reserve for Sundays (football will always come first). Stashed deep inside of my laptop’s hard drive, is what I will call in honor of tomorrow’s article, my bailout posts. They are normally short quips by me, followed by a blog article or video that I have found elsewhere on the web.

Before going any further, however, I must add some additional comments regarding the Presidential debates to date. By this stage of the Presidential vetting process, either a moderator or a citizen at a town hall meeting has asked four questions that are considered staples nowadays in presidential contests. Not even one of these questions has been asked of the candidates yet. I’m beginning to think that the mainstream Liberal media has avoided these questions out of fear of what Barack Obama might say. The four questions or a variation of them are as follows:

    1. What is your position on gun control? OR Do you feel that is a citizen’s right to own a gun?

    2. As President, what type of judges would you appoint to the Supreme Court? OR If you could remove one of the current judges, who would it be?

    3. What do you think this country’s position on immigration should be? OR What would you do with the multitude of illegal aliens that are already in the United States?

    4. What is your position on birth control? OR When do you believe that a life is formed? OR When do you believe an abortion should not be performed?

It is on this last question that what I’ll call the “guest blog” concentrates. This relatively new blog is written by a lawyer who works for a major pro-life organization. Not only is the blog well-written, but it is thought-provoking and inspirational as well. He compares John McCain and Barack Obama on the abortion issue and has published a three-part series (written by another lawyer) that I encourage all to read.

Since I could not begin to do the subject justice when compared to what the author of Don’t Drink the King’s Wine has provided, I will not even attempt to. I will, instead, defer to his expertise and that of his colleague and provide his blog posts as the authority for my “Comparing McCain and Obama on the Issues Series – The Abortion issue.”

I encourage all readers of The Political Republican Opinion Blog to visit Don’t Drink the King’s Wine and to read Know Obama: A pro-Life Lawyer’s Perspective (Part 1: Voting Records). I, of course, would recommend reading Parts 2 and 3 in the series, as well! Soon, I am told, a fourth part will be added, as well.

    Political Repubican Opinion:

Political Republican Opinion - An Obama Presidency would be a rubber stamp for the Liberal agenda Let’s get the obvious out of the way right off the bat. I score the debate as a zero! There was nothing new learned during the debate because it was not at all a town hall meeting.

Tom Brokaw had the opportunity before the debate to screen hundreds of questions from citizens and decide which ones that he wanted to ask. Instead of choosing questions that had never before been asked, questions that would have given some special insight into the character or unknown positions of either man, Tom Brokaw chose to ask and have asked, vitually identical questions to the first McCain-Obama debate. So, as for the debate itself, it was a waste of everyone’s time and Tom Brokaw was clearly the worst moderator of the three we have witnessed (including the Vice Presidential debate).

I heard nothing at all new from either candidate. They have been repeating the same things for months with no specific numbers are exact plans. Not a single McCain supporter changed his/her vote; not a single Obama supporter changed theirs either. As far as the undecided people go, I don’t think it matters. One or the other might have gained a two point swing amongst these individuals, but my feeling is, if they don’t know by now who they are going to vote for, they probably aren’t going to vote anyway. The two candidates could not be more polar opposites on most issues, so there is no reason not to have made up one’s mind already.

What is my Political Republican-biased take on the winner? I thought McCain was stronger at stating his positions on the economy than he was before. I thought Obama was the same as before; therefore, what was an advantage during the first debate for Obama became a tie in this one. On foreign policy and national defense, I think both candidates were identical to the last debate, where McCain inspired more confidence. On health care, Obama was clearly stronger. Therefore, the entire debate was a tie.

Keep in mind, however, that every President since I was old enough to care has promised health care reform and none have been able to sway Congress to do anything about it. Every Democrat has always said he was going to help the poor, every Republican has fought for business. Neither Democrats nor Republicans have made a significant change in this regard since the Days of Franklin D. Rossevelt and the beginning of our welfare system.

That could all change after this election, however. Have you noticed that John McCain continually emphasizes his track record of being able to cross Party lines in a bipartisan way? This is important, since every poll is indicating that Democrats will pick up a significant number of Congressional seats. A Republican president will have to be able to work with Democrats if there is any progress to be made at all in government.

Barack Obama, on the other hand, has shrugged at the label of only working with Democrats. He knows what the polls say and has no interest in changing his ways. He would not even have to speak to a Republican the entire time in office as Liberal bills sail through the House, the Senate and spend mere seconds on his desk before being rubber stamped.

The good news, is that our Congress will finally accomplish something. There is no reason at all why Barack Obama couldn’t have every item on his Liberal agenda approved within the first six months in office. The bad news, is that every Liberal item that has been part of the Democratic Party’s agenda for decades will be passed. There will be no checks and balances between the Executive and Legislative branches of our government.

Heck, it might not be so bad. I’m tired of working 55-60 hours per week as I struggle to pay my bills. Let the government and all of those rich people take care of me. I would much rather spend the entire day blogging!

    Political Republican Opinion:

As is normally the case on Sundays, I haven’t had the time to delve into the finer aspects of the political news of the day. I’ve had football to watch, chores to do, football to watch, a new sidebar featuring Halloween masks to create, football to watch.

I did happen to stumble upon the latest in a series of new Republican attack ads. It is about time the Republican Party, in general, and the McCain campaign, in particular, started fighting back. Obama is running some of the most misleading ads I have ever seen in a political campaign. Here is one that questions Barack Obama’s frienship with William Ayers:

My favorite new ad proves how Democrats are entirely to blame for the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac bailout. Assuming that all undecided and non-Kool Aid drinking Democrats have any brains at all, they might actually wake up and see that the candidate that is offering hope and change, is change that we cannot possibly hope to afford:

Finally, I found another ad that focuses on the poor decisions that Obama has made in his choice of friends. This one concentrates on Tony Rezko and even throws Joe Biden into the mix:

The Political Republican Opinion blog will continue to scour the Net to bring you the latest in conservative political views … even during football season :(

    Political Republican Opinion:

Political Republican Opinion - John McCain boxing Barack Obama With less than a month left before the November 2, 2008 election, it appears that the McCain campaign will finally be taking the gloves off. John McCain has said that he does not believe in negative campaign ads; but, with Obama now leading by seven to eight points in recent polls and the constant lies being told by the Obama campaign in their attack ads on John McCain, it would appear a change of course has been ordered.

Sarah Palin took the first shots today, accusing Barack Obama of associating with terrorists. While at a private airport, the Associated Press reports that Sarah Palin said, “Our opponent … is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect, imperfect enough, that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country. She added, “This is not a man who sees America as you see America and as I see America.”

Governor Palin said that donors in a greeting line had encouraged her and McCain to get tougher on Obama. The vice presidential running mate of John McCain said an aide told her, “Sarah, the gloves are off, the heels are on; go get them.” The AP goes on to suggest that McCain-Palin attacks will coincide with 527 organization ads which will focus on questioning Obama’s ties to Ayers, convicted former Obama fundraiser Antoin “Tony” Rezko and Obama’s former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Palin’s reference was to domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, one of the founders of the Weather Underground. The radical 60’s group that first surfaced in Chicago, Barack Obama’s home town, took credit for several bombings, including explosions at the Pentagon, the U.S. Capitol, the Harry S. Truman Building (which housed the US State Department), several banks and police stations.

Bill Ayers, who is now a professor at the University of Chicago, has never apologized for his involvement with the Weather Underground and has, in fact, stated that he wished they could have done more than they did. (He said this immediately after the 9-11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.) He and Obama live in the same Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood, where Ayers held a meet-the-candidate event at his home for Obama when Obama first ran for office in the mid-1990s.

Barack Obama and Bill Ayers served together on the board of the Woods Fund, a Chicago-based charity that develops community groups to help the poor. Obama was also the first chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a school-reform group of which Ayers was a founder.

Although Barack Obama dismisses his relationship with Bill Ayers as just “a guy who lives in my neighborhood,” and “not somebody who I exchange ideas with on a regular basis,” Ayers refuses to discuss his relationship with Obama. When National Review Online contributing editor Stanley Kurtz tried to delve further into the real relationship between the two by asking to peruse internal documents of the Chicago Annenburg Challenge at the University of Chicago’s Richard Daley Library, he ran into a brick wall. Kurtz’s article, “Chicago Annenburg Challenge Shutdown? - A cover up in the making? is well worth a read!

Recently, during the emergency sessions of Congress that led to the “Wall Street Bailout Bill,” McCain said that “now is not the time” to engage in the blame game.
