    Political Republican Opinion:

Political Republican - Democrats Leaving a Sinking Ship I sometimes think that the Democratic Party intentionally throws elections. It is far too easy to sit back and be an armchair quarterback than to actually put yourself on the line and have to be accountable.

If there’s one thing that Political Republicans know about Liberals, it’s that they love to complain. They complain about their leaders, they complain about the police, they complain about the judicial system, they complain about the military, they complain about their jobs, they complain about people with better jobs, they complain about their country, they complain, they complain, they complain.

When pressed about what they would do to fix things, they have no answer. All they know is somebody has got to CHANGE things. Then, they select unelectable people to run as their Presidential candidates so that when they lose, they can complain about the system and the Republican President.

The Democratic Party cannot possibly be trying to win this Presidential election. This should have been the easiest election ever for the Democratic Party to win. Instead, they selected a candidate who could not be further from the “uniter” he claims to be when they had a candidate who could have easily won the election in a landside – Hillary Clinton. [The Political Republican Opinion blog couldn’t be happier with their choice, incidentally].

Now, to further diminish the chances of their Presidential candidate winning, Democrats are coming out of the woodwork to sabotage the Obama campaign. If the past two days are any indication, the McCain-Palin ticket should have this election wrapped up by the end of the month. Here are some of the gems from the past two days:

    • South Carolina Democratic Party chairperson, Carol Fowler said that John McCain had chosen a running mate “whose primary qualification seems to be that she hasn’t had an abortion.” Later, in an attempt to apologize, Fowler made this incoherent statement: “I personally admire and respect the difficult choices that women make everyday, and I apologize to anyone who finds my comment offensive. I clumsily was making a point about people in South Carolina who may vote based on a single issue. Whether it’s the environment, the economy, the war or a woman’s right to choose, there are people who will cast their vote based on a single issue. That was the only point I was attempting to make.” [How about those whose single issue is CHANGE?]

    • When asked by E! News Weekend Canada today, about what she thought of Sarah Palin, noted (ahem) Mensa candidate, Pamela Anderson, offered these incredibly insightful remarks: “I can’t stand her; she can suck it!” [Who would know better?]

    • Also today, Matt Damon, who seems to believe that he really is the genius he portrayed in Good Will Hunting, offered this incredible volley: “You do the actuary tables and there’s a one-out-of-three chance, if not more, that McCain doesn’t survive his first term and it will be President Palin . . . and I think that’s a really scary thing because I don’t know anything about her … I know she was a mayor of a really, really small town. And she was governor of Alaska for less than two years. I just don’t understand . . . I think the pick was made for political purposes but in terms of governance it’s a disaster … It’s like a bad Disney movie … ‘I’m just a hockey mom from Alaska.’ And she’s the president … and it’s like she’s facing down Vladimir Putin and using the folksy stuff she learned at the hockey rink. It’s absurd. It’s totally absurd.” [And here you said you didn’t know anything about her. You’ve already written an entire script around her! Come on, Matt; you forgot the best part of the story … “and we all live happily ever after!”]

    • Barack Obama’s Vice Presidential running mate offered not one, but two gems in the last twenty-four hours. Yesterday, he asked wheelchair-bound Chuck Graham to “stand up [and] let the people see you!” (Oops!). And today, while at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire, Biden revealed this: “Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States. Let’s get that straight. She is qualified to be president of the United States of America. She is easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America, and quite frankly, might’ve been a better pick than me.” [See? Just after saying one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard from a politician (except, maybe, “I voted for the war before I voted against it!”), Biden redeems himself by making the most intelligent point I’ve heard from a Democrat this year!]

    • And, of course, the list wouldn’t be complete without their exalted leader, Barack Obama’s, jaw-dropping remarks made two days ago that “You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig!” [Whether Obama intentionally made this remark as a jab at Sarah Palin or not, it has really shaken women up. The blogs are littered with indignant women who are fuming that Obama is the pig in this scenario. If nothing else, The Political Republican Opinion believes that it was incredibly poor judgement on his part and judgement is, perhaps, more important than any attribute of a potential President.]

As Democrats scramble in an effort to halt the rise of the McCain-Palin star, they continue to step in it time after time. With every attack on Sarah Palin, Obama’s numbers continue to drop. Political Republicans can just sit back and watch with glee as the entire Democratic Party melts down. Today’s Gallup poll had John McCain with a 4% lead over Barack Obama amongst likely voters. That’s six straight days now that McCain has had a lead over Obama.

What’s more, according to an article on FT.com (Financial Times), some members of Congress are becoming worried that Barack Obama’s faltering campaign may be hurting their chances for re-election. One Democratic fundraiser said that some Democratic Congressional candidates are beginning to distance themselves from Barack Obama and have decided it is against their best interests to criticize John McCain.

As the rats fight each other to be first off the sinking ship, Political Republicans are laughing too hard to throw them a lifeline.

    Political Republican Opinion:

Ploitical Republican Opinion - McCain-Oalin The Political Republican Opinion blog has found a couple of interesting articles on the web that political Republicans should find quite interesting. The first article shows how John McCain is continuing to grow campaign financing for the Republican coffers. The second, points out the many lies being told by Liberal bloggers in their panicked efforts to degrade John McCain’s Vice Presidential running mate, Sarah Palin.

John McCain Gets $5 Million from Barack Obama’s Hometown:

Unlike Barack Obama, who went back on his promise to use federal financing for his campaign, John McCain is not allowed to accept “outside money” for his political campaign. That didn’t keep McCain from attending a fundraising campaign for the RNC in Barack Obama’s hometown of Chicago, however.

Presidential hopeful John McCain raised a whopping $5 million during the five hour visit. Although federal election rules prevent McCain from using the donations directly, the RNC will surely be using the money raised to run ads in battleground states on behalf of McCain.

The Lies About Sarah Palin that the Liberal Left Tells:

The Liberal blogs are filled with derogatory claims regarding John McCain’s Vice Presidential running mate, Sarah Palin. In a frantic effort to derail the popularity of Governor Palin, they will stop at nothing. Among the lies being told by the panicked Left are:

    • Sarah Palin cut funding for children with special needs by 62%. In actuality, Governor Palin tripled per student funding over the past three years for children with special needs.

    • Sarah Palin demanded that certain books be banned from the Wasilla public library. The librarian herself states that all Sarah Palin did was ask a “what if?” question.

    • Sarah Palin is a member of the Alaskan Independence Party – a group wishing to secede from the United States. The statement made in a video being circulated around the internet was a lie told by a member of the Party in an effort to boost the Alaska Independence Party’s credibility. Sarah Palin has been a member of the Republican Party since May of 1982 and has never been a member of the radical secession Party.

    • Sarah Palin endorsed Pat Buchanan; another lie told by panicked Liberals. She did wear a Buchanan button once out of courtesy when he visited Wasilla but actively campaigned for Steve Forbes as the co-chair of Forbes’ campaign.

    • Palin pushed for teaching Creationism in Alaska’s public schools. This Liberal lie twists Sarah Palin’s words, where Governor Palin has stated that Creationism “doesn’t have to be part of the curriculum.” She does not feel that students should be punished for expressing their religious beliefs, however, stating that they should be able to openly “debate both sides” of the evolution question.

    The Political Republican Opinion:

Political Republican Opinion - Sarah PalinThe buzz has already started. Liberals far and wide are attacking presumptive Republican Presidential nominee, John McCain, for his selection of Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential running mate. The attacks run from the simpleminded, “he is just trying to steal Hillary’s supporters’ votes” to the more serious claim that Sarah Palin is far too inexperienced to take over as President of the United States if something were to happen to John McCain. There are even some liberals who question Governor Palin’s judgement in having a Downs Syndrome baby and accepting the invitation to join McCain on the ticket.

The Political Republican Opinion is that Sarah Palin may just be the perfect Conservative pick by Senator McCain. Many pundits had mentioned her name as a possibility in past months, but her name faded away as other potential running mates such as Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Tom Ridge and even Joe Lieberman gained momentum in media speculation. To see why the Political Republican Opinion feels that Sarah Palin is, indeed, the right pick, we need to look a little into her background and see what kind of experience the 44-year-old Governor has:

While in high school, Sarah Palin was the head of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the captain of the Wasilla High School’s girls state championship basketball team, where she earned the nickname Sarah Barracuda for her tenacity and aggressive play. In 1984, she won the Miss Wasilla Beauty Contest and finished runner-up in the Miss Alaska Pageant in which she received a college scholarship and earned the title, “Miss Congeniality.” Palin graduated from the University of Idaho in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in communication and journalism and she also minored in political science. She then worked briefly as a sports reporter for local Alaska Television stations and spent some time working with her husband in the commercial fishing industry before turning to politics.

Her foray into politics began in 1992, when she won a seat on the Wasilla, Alaska City Council, serving two terms, running on a platform that advocated a “safer, more progressive Wasilla.” Then, in 1996, she took on the “old boy network” and defeated long-time incumbent Wasilla mayor, John Stein, running on a platform that was critical of the wasteful spending and high taxes of his administration. As mayor, Sarah Palin make good on her campaign promises by reducing her own salary as mayor and by slashing property taxes by 40%. In 1999, mayor Palin successfully defended her mayoral position, defeating John Stein once again - this time by a 50% margin. During this time, she was also elected president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors. Due to term limit restrictions, she stepped down as mayor in 2002 and lost a close primary race to Loren Leman for the lieutenant governor’s position that same year.

A year later, then-Governor Frank Murkowski appointed Sarah Palin to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, where she served as chairman from 2003-2004. She also served as Ethics Supervisor during that time period, resigning in 2004 in protest for what she called a “lack of ethics” by fellow Republican members of the Commission. After filiing formal complaints, she forced the resignations of former Alaska Attorney General, Gregg Renkes, and one of her fellow commissioners, Randy Reudrich, who was accused of an improper relationship with a company that he was supposed to be regulating.

In 2006, “Sarah Barracuda” took on the man who had given her the job on the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission along with running mate and State Senator Sean Panell. Running on a platform that promised to clean up government, she defeated incumbent Governor Murkowski in the Republican gubernatorial primary. Promising to focus her attention on education, transportation and public safety, she defeated Democratic former two-term Governor, Tony Knowles, by nearly an 8% margin. One of her first acts as Governor, was to auction off former Governor Murkowski’s state jet on E-Bay for $2.1 million. The jet had been purchased by Murkowski via a state government credit account.

Sarah Palin has rocked the Republican boat as Alaska’s Governor. She endorsed Sean Parnell in his bid to unseat longtime Republican U.S. Congressman, Don Young, and has also challenged the U.S. Senate’s longest sitting Republican, Senator Ted Stevens, to “come clean” in regards to a federal investigation into his financial dealings. She also rescinded 35 appointments made by former Governor Murkowski, including one given to Murkowski’s former chief of staff, James Clark, to the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority. Clark subsequently pleaded guilty to conspiring with an oil field services company to pump money into Murkowski’s political campaign.

In the two years that Sarah Palin has served as Governor, she has feverishly promoted oil and natural gas resource development in Alaska and fully supports the development of a small portion of the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). In regards to Republican U.S. Secretary of the Interior, Dirk Kempthorne’s, decision to list polar bears as an endangered species, Governor Palin balked, filing a lawsuit to prevent the designation. She cites studies showing that polar bears have increased in population over the last couple of decades by 300% and feels that the move will inhibit the development of oil and natural gas resources off the state’s northern and northwestern coasts.

In March of 2007, Sarah Palin was responsible for introducing the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA) - a law that would open up the construction of a natural gas pipeline from the Northern Slope of Alaska, through Canada, and down into the lower 48 states of mainland America. This law overturned efforts by former Governor Murkowski to award contracts to an oil consortium that included British Petroleum (BP), her husband’s employer at the time. Three months later, the Act would be passed and signed into law by Governor Palin. In January of 2008, the Alaskan Governor would assign a Canadian company, TransCanada Corp. the contract to build the TransCanada Pipelines, citing that it was the only AGIA-compliant applicant for the project.

Recently, Sarah Palin has proposed that the state provide grants to energy companies in an effort to lower the soaring electrical bills that Alaska’s citizens are facing. She also has proposed a plan to give each Alaskan family a $1,200 check that would be paid for by windfall surpluses the state has received due to higher oil prices. In June of 2007, Governor Palin also made effective use of her veto, cutting $237 million in the construction budget, the second largest construction budget cut in state history!

The Political Republican believes that Governor Palin helps reinforce the Conservative base of the Republican party by having a track record of fighting corruption and cutting wasteful spending. It also doesn’t hurt that she supports a child’s right to life and is a card-carrying member of the NRA. If disenfranchised Hillary Clinton voters are looking for a candidate who shows what a strong woman can accomplish, they might think seriously about placing their support behind the McCain-Palin ticket! I could go on, but I think I have made my point.

The Political Republican Opinion believes that Sarah Palin has accomplished a great deal in her 16-year political career. Is she qualified to lead the country, though? Well, her accomplishments certainly put to shame the flimsy record of Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama. If Sarah Palin is not qualified to be Vice President of this country, Barack Obama is certainly not qualified to serve as her aide, let alone become the President of the United States! At least, that’s what this Political Republican believes. What do you think?
