Political Republican Opinion:
Enough is enough! This past week, there has been so much trash thrown up against the wall in reference to John McCain’s Vice Presidential running mate, Sarah Palin - “news” that has no basis in fact - that The Political Republican wonders where the line is to be drawn?
Us Magazine’s most recent edition, offers a picture on the cover with Sarah Palin cradling her five-month-old son, Tripp, and the headline, “Babies, Lies and Scandal.” Great headline! What was inside the cover, however, did not quite offer what the headline promised.
Sure, the magazine did a great job at tearing into Sarah Palin’s 17-year-old daughter and her daughter’s fiancé for their mistake. The magazine goes on to quote people who rip the new Vice Presidential running mate of John McCain for her pro-life, abstinence-only stances regarding sex education in the public school system. On that count, the tabloid magazine makes good on its headline regarding babies.
As far as “scandal” goes, Us Magazine falls far short of the promise. Teenage girls get pregnant every day. The fact that this girl got pregnant out of wedlock may be scandalous to the strictest of bible thumpers, but it is hardly something that mainstream America – the people who routinely read the rag – would call shocking. Especially when one takes into account that this girl is actually going to marry the father; and no, Sarah Barracuda was not standing there with a shotgun, ensuring that the young man made things right. Now if, say, it had been Sarah Palin who had gotten caught in a hotel with a lover, that would have been a scandal! Wait a minute; that was John Edwards. Never mind …
On the promise of “lies,” the magazine doesn’t even attempt to disclose any. The only lie being told is the headline. It would be like running a headline that said “Barack Obama’s Love Child” and then have an article explaining the Democratic Presidential hopeful’s devotion to one of his daughters. The Political Republican feels that this is a pretty shameful way to get people to buy a magazine.
Unfortunately, the Us Magazine cover was nothing compared to the ridiculous story that was floated earlier in the week by the Daily Kos diary. In that felonious fabrication, Kos reported that Sarah Palin’s five-month old baby, was really the child of her teen daughter, Bristol, and that Governor Palin claimed the Downs Syndrome child as her own to avoid a political scandal. No proof was cited; only loose innuendo and rumors from unknown sources were used to concoct the sensational smear job.
Liberal bloggers across the country were quick to pick up on the story and it spread like wildfire. Ridiculous attacks followed by idiotic innuendo warped the story more as it evolved from blog to blog. Worse still, the mainstream Liberal media picked up on the story and started reporting it as well.
The Political Republican Opinion blog realizes that the blogosphere is an arena for individuals to explore their creativity and opinion. Most sane adults realize that the “information” espoused on them hardly qualifies as fact-based news. I do, however, condemn certain major news networks for broadcasting the story.
After all, here in the blogosphere, it’s not hard to invent a story. The Political Republican has been thinking about doing a creative piece for his next post. How does the title, “Barack Obama Raped by an Alien!” sound?

Every day that I think I’ve heard it all, the Liberals shock me with something so unbelievable, that I wonder what country I live in. I routinely check in on the warped thoughts of the Liberal public and media, so I tuned into NBC this morning to listen to their slant on the news of the day. I don’t have any kids, so I had no clue about the peanut butter ban until I heard Matt Lauer mention it on The Today Show this morning in a nonchalant, matter of fact manner.
The Obama campaign made it official on Friday, announcing that there will be a state-by-state roll call during the Democratic Party National Convention. The decision to have a floor vote is a move that the Obama campaign hopes will appease the many Hillary Clinton supporters who have, thus far, refused to back Obama in his bid for the White House.
Since 1932, when Franklin D. Roosevelt announced his “New Deal,” the Democratic Party has stood for redistribution of power and wealth from “big business” to the workers. It signaled the beginning of the Democratic Party’s liberal agenda, which included government control of the economy, control of prices, the expansion of welfare programs and the increased importance of unions. Amongst other social issues, the modern Democratic Party has added to their platform, environmentalism, abortion rights, embryonic stem cell research, a national government health care system, a higher minimum wage and a progressive tax system that places higher tax burdens on those that earn more money.
After witnessing the about-faces that Barack Obama has done on virtually every political issue since becoming the presumptive Democratic Party’s Presidential nominee, The Political Republican can only wonder whether Mr. Obama will really make good on his promise to get his daughters a dog.
