The Political Republican Opinion:
Every day that I think I’ve heard it all, the Liberals shock me with something so unbelievable, that I wonder what country I live in. I routinely check in on the warped thoughts of the Liberal public and media, so I tuned into NBC this morning to listen to their slant on the news of the day. I don’t have any kids, so I had no clue about the peanut butter ban until I heard Matt Lauer mention it on The Today Show this morning in a nonchalant, matter of fact manner.
“Huh? That can’t be right,” I told myself. The wheels started turning in my head as I quickly realized that anything was possible with so many Liberal government policies intruding on our lives. I immediately jumped on the Internet.
What I found out was outrageous and, undoubtedly, known by practically everybody but me. School systems all across the nation are banning anything containing peanuts, including peanut butter. We’re not just talking about banning items in vending machines and things served by the school cafeteria. No, children are not even allowed to bring their own peanut butter sandwiches to school!
Apparently, the number of allergic reactions to peanuts and products made with them has increased dramatically over the years, with a whopping 1% of the population now experiencing adverse reactions to the product. Yes; that’s right, one percent of the population is now dictating policies for all.
The Political Republican can only ask, “Where will it end?” Other common food groups that are known to cause allergic reactions include dairy products, fish, eggs and even wheat. Will they be next? What the hell; they might as well make it easier for all concerned by combining lunch and recess and turning the kids loose to play and graze at the same time on the playfield. It might even save the school system money by cutting down on grounds keeping costs!
It’s not shocking, really. 8-12% of the U.S. population is self-proclaimed agnostic or atheist and they have managed to ban the use of the word “God” during the pledge of allegiance and no form of Christianity is allowed to be discussed in public schools. A child cannot even pray! (Of course, these rules do not apply to other religions; Hinduism, Buddhism, and even Muslim religions are discussed freely in classes like Social Studies and English.)
Once again, an overreaction by the wildly out of control extreme Left has taken the rights of Americans away as we sit idly by and watch it happen. Political Republicans need to band together and put a stop to this! Thank God that John McCain chose a running mate in Sarah Palin that believes that American rights need to be restored. This is in stark contrast to the Marxist views of Barack Obama and our Communist school system. Be very careful of wanting “change” for change’s sake, America. You may not like what you get!
In the United States Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson wrote, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Not in this country anymore Tom; not in this country.
UPDATE: After receiving numerous comments from parents who have children with peanut allergies, I am hereby reversing my orginal position on this issue. I cannot imagine how a parent deals with this; there really is nowhere that is safe. If not in schools, children with this disorder can come into contact with trace ammounts of peanut butter or peanuts in virtually any home or public place. This can lead to severe allergic reactions - often causing rapid death! I regret the original context of this article but am leaving it up in the hopes that it will help others who are unfamiliar with the disorder to better inform themselves. The Obama campaign made it official on Friday, announcing that there will be a state-by-state roll call during the Democratic Party National Convention. The decision to have a floor vote is a move that the Obama campaign hopes will appease the many Hillary Clinton supporters who have, thus far, refused to back Obama in his bid for the White House.
Since 1932, when Franklin D. Roosevelt announced his “New Deal,” the Democratic Party has stood for redistribution of power and wealth from “big business” to the workers. It signaled the beginning of the Democratic Party’s liberal agenda, which included government control of the economy, control of prices, the expansion of welfare programs and the increased importance of unions. Amongst other social issues, the modern Democratic Party has added to their platform, environmentalism, abortion rights, embryonic stem cell research, a national government health care system, a higher minimum wage and a progressive tax system that places higher tax burdens on those that earn more money.
After witnessing the about-faces that Barack Obama has done on virtually every political issue since becoming the presumptive Democratic Party’s Presidential nominee, The Political Republican can only wonder whether Mr. Obama will really make good on his promise to get his daughters a dog.
